The War

There is a war taking place within society. This is not a war which involves physical weapons (tanks, planes, or even swords and lances). This is a SPIRITUAL war. The stakes are much higher. The outcome of this war determines each person's eternity. The war is over SOULS.

The Sides
Quite frankly, this is a battle between good and evil. (If you feel this is "just an opinion," see the Moral Relativism section.) This is a battle to save souls so they may enjoy eternal happiness (eternal LIFE) with God rather than eternal suffering (eternal DEATH) with satan. The sides are uneven. God is much stronger and more powerful than satan. We know that in the end, satan and his army of evil angels and demons WILL be DEFEATED. The devil knows this as well. The war is over the final destination of each and every soul. Despite the attempted brainwashing of modern culture, hell does exist (see Matthew, chapter 7, verses 13-14, 21-23).

Who or what are the enemies of a Culture of Life?
The enemies in this war are not human beings. Let's examine a list of people who are NOT enemies of pro-lifers:

The doctors who perform the actual killing of children
Other employees of the abortuaries
Boyfriends/husbands/parents who sometimes talk/intimidate mothers into having abortions
Those who pay for or otherwise assist in the procurement of abortion (such as driving a mother to a clinic)
Mothers who are freely choosing to have an abortion or who have had an abortion
Volunteer "escorts" for mothers entering abortuaries
People who march in favor of legalized child killing
Members and hierarchies of groups that advocate the continued legalization of baby killing and claim this activity is "acceptable"
Politicians who propose, vote for, or sign legislation that supports or wastes tax money on abortion (which includes "emergency contraception," and other pills to kill human beings at the earliest stages of life), euthanasia, or embryonic stem cell research
Judges who make rulings favorable to abortion, euthanasia or embryonic stem cell research

All of the above are people whose souls need to be saved. While they are doing evil deeds, they themselves are NOT evil. Like the innocent humans being slaughtered daily, they too were created by God. God never creates evil. He permits evil, but evil does NOT come from Him. All of the above have the ability to repent and convert (according to the rules of their religion - some religions require more than a change of heart and apology to God) as long as they are still alive. May they live a VERY healthy life in order to have every opportunity possible for attonement.

No, the enemies in this war are satan and his demons. They know their time is limited. They want to rob God of as many souls as possible while they still can. The easiest method is by promoting such extreme evils as destroying the most innocent and most vulnerable in our society - human beings at their earliest form of life. Euthanasia is another easy method and can easily ensnare a number of souls over one individual. Consider the fact that if there is a legal fight over whether or not to end the life of another human being (some refer to this as a "right to die") there are SO many people involved: lawyers, judges, the plaintiffs and defendants themselves, family members, doctors, nurses, (if it gets press coverage, the media and supporters, etc.). Those listed above are being USED. The devil hopes that once he is finished using them, he will have their souls. While abortion is more frequently talked about and euthanasia has slowly and insidiously begun to take hold in the world, embryonic stem cell research can destroy untold numbers of innocents. Either way, all three evils are leading their proponents to embrace hell rather than Heaven.

Culture of Life Weapons
Our weapons include prayer (particularly the Rosary), attending religious services, fasting, self-denial, etc. We should also be educated on the issues. We need to develop a THOROUGH knowledge about the issues and most particularly what those in favor of legalized abortion, euthanasia, and proponents of embryonic stem cell research are saying. The very things said by proponents of these evils can be used AGAINST their cause. Be ready and willing to speak up when the opportunity arises. Do not let fear of embarassment, dirty looks, vulgarity, name calling, dirty gestures, ridicule, or even ostracism stop you.

Our weapons do NOT include:

threats
violence
intimidation
judgment of the PERSON (judgment of souls is for God alone, but we have every right and duty to judge ACTIONS)
condemnation of the PERSON (we have a right and a duty to condemn ACTIONS and there is a great difference between condemning a person vs. condemning an action)
namecalling/insults (use of the term "pro-abort" is not an insult - it is a description of a stance taken by some individuals)

NONE of the above should be used in this war. They should be condemned. Violence should be strictly prohibited by ALL sides (and this includes the violence done to innocent human beings when performing an abortion or the destruction of life when someone insists on another's "right to die"). Remember that Jesus Christ rebuked St. Peter for violence when He was captured by the High Priest's slaves (see John, chapter 18, verses 10-11).

We regret that a small minority of self-proclaimed "pro-life" people use violence, threats and intimidation. These actions are NOT pro-life. These actions accomplish nothing other than to give the culture of death a chance to smear ALL who are pro-life. It is important that those who in any way advocate for evil have a very healthy and full life. Like ALL of us, they need every opportunity for attonement.

Protests and picketing must be PEACEFUL. If someone has the tendency to engage in any of the actions that should be condemned, they should assist the pro-life cause in areas outside of protests and picketing. Prayer is most important. Perhaps your local pro-life group sends out a periodic mailing? Volunteer to fold materials and stuff envelopes. There are plenty of needs.

Culture of Death Weapons
The devil and his army of demons use people (when not making use of those who support legalized abortion and other evils, even the minds of pro-lifers can become tools to distract them from the battle). When using people, the demons use the following weapons:

pride
lust
encouraging the misuse of sexuality
moral relativism
deceit
distraction
laziness
confusion
presenting evil as good
intimidation (physical or otherwise)
threats (physical or otherwise)
violence
hatred and hatefulness
namecalling and improper hand gestures
judgment of people
condemnation of people
attractive marketing and twisting of words like "choice" or terms like "right to die"
watering down religious traditions
frequent displays of blasphemy
destruction/theft of religious property
ignorance or ambivilance towards God
denial of evil, sin, hell, and the devil himself
presenting the quest for knowledge about religion as "fanatical" or "fundamental"
trumped up fear of "offending" people when religious symbols are displayed
thirst for power
greed
claims of a "right to die"

Pro-life objective
Our objective is to save souls for God. Pro-life should not merely refer to life of innocent human beings. It should also refer to ETERNAL LIFE (as opposed to the ETERNAL DEATH in hell). It is important to convert hearts and minds. Saving innocent human beings is important. They need and deserve a chance at life and the opportunity to choose God over sin. But it is equally important to save the souls of those who favor allowing this evil (or who would assist in this evil even if it was against state/federal law). While an important goal is to reverse Roe v. Wade AND make infanticide illegal in states that allowed child sacrifice prior to Roe v. Wade, this will only stop some abortions. The far more important goal is to make abortion a course of action that NOBODY would even WANT to take.

It is important to educate people on the value of human life after birth. We do not "throw away" those who are mentally disabled, brain damaged, etc. This society is heading towards "throwing away" anyone who is no longer deemed 'useful' or who may 'cost too much.' Some argue that minimal assistance helping someone stay alive is "forcing them to live" or "unfairly prolonging their life." While TRULY extraordinary means may not be necessary to keep people alive when there is no hope, we must be careful to understand what is TRULY an extraordinary means. Clearly, being hooked up to a feeding tube and nothing more is NOT "extraordinary means."

We must take pity on those humans who work against us. The devil is using them. Do not consider any human to be an "enemy" but rather a soul that needs to be saved. The TRUE enemies are satan and his army of demons.
