Few Are Alarmed

What happened to Terri Schiavo happens to a vast number of people. It could happen to anyone at any time. Not satisfied with the approximately 4,000 babies slaughtered daily via abortion, the Culture of Death has now brought euthanasia to the forefront.

Some feel that Terri Schiavo's situation is only about her. The fact is that any one of us could be in Terri Schiavo's position at any point. One could easily be involved in a car accident. One could easily be involved in any other type of accident.

Some who support the action that brought about Terri's death say "But we don't know how she feels." First, there are many people who have indicated that she was able to communicate. These include her family, nurses, priests, etc. But even without the statements by these witnesses, we should err on the side of life. If we do not know, we should not end someone's life. In our society, those suspected of committing crimes are considered innocent until proven guilty. If they cannot be proven guilty, they are not sentenced for the crime. We should therefore apply the same principle to the disabled who cannot speak for themselves.
